**Actuarial Analyst I**


Assists in the development of IFT and forecasting. Analyzes, develops and validates statistical data.


Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:


+ Under limited supervision, applies the appropriate actuarial analytical tools to the data and performs preliminary actuarial and statistical analysis.

+ Updates actuarial pricing, valuation and forecasting models as directed.

+ Refines and collects appropriate data for actuarial analysis and ensures its reasonableness and accuracy by coordination within the division.

+ Performs key actuarial functions including new product pricing, evaluation of the impact of new legislation, flexible benefit consulting, and special projects.

+ Responsible for recommendations on pricing, marketing, product design, claims, premium and enrollment administration of business unit.

+ Responsible for valuation support for business unit by interpreting financial results, variances from forecast to help identify product and segment behavior to assist in the risk management of the business unit.

+ Performs key actuarial functions including new product pricing, evaluation of the impact of new legislation, flexible benefit consulting, and special projects.

+ Responsible for recommendations on pricing, marketing, product design, claims, premium and enrollment administration of business unit.

+ Responsible for valuation support for business unit by interpreting financial results, variances from forecast to help identify product and segment behavior to assist in the risk management of the business unit.

+ Designs and completes special projects such as developing and maintaining experience-rating formulae and creating and/or reviewing alternative settlement formulate and risk sharing models.


**Actuarial Analyst II**


Completes projects and performs complex actuarial studies. Assists in the development of IFT and forecasting.


Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:


+ Under limited supervision, applies the appropriate actuarial analytical tools to the data and performs preliminary actuarial and statistical analysis.

+ Updates actuarial pricing, valuation and forecasting models as directed.

+ Refines and collects appropriate data for actuarial analysis and ensures its reasonableness and accuracy by coordination within the division.

+ Performs key actuarial functions including new product pricing, evaluation of the impact of new legislation, flexible benefit consulting, and special projects.

+ Responsible for recommendations on pricing, marketing, product design, claims, premium and enrollment administration of business unit.

+ Obtains, verifies, analyzes and models data including risk reporting and forecasting.

+ Calculates monthly claims liability reserves, develops merit rating factors and prepares Department of Insurance annual statement exhibits.

+ Designs and completes special projects such as developing and maintaining experience-rating formulae and creating and/or reviewing alternative settlement formulate and risk sharing models.


**Qualifications:**


**Actuarial Analyst**


_Required:_


+ Requires a BS/BA degree;

+ Required to have passed at least one Society of Actuaries (SOA) or Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) actuarial exam

+ Or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.


_Preferred:_


+ Group Insurance, Trend Analysis and Forecasting strongly preferred.

+ SAS, Excel, and Access are preferred


**Actuarial Analyst II**


_Required:_


+ Requires a BS/BA degree

+ Required to have passed at least three Society of Actuaries (SOA) or Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) actuarial exams

+ At least 1 year related experience

+ Or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.


_Preferred_ :


+ Group Insurance, Trend Analysis and Forecasting strongly preferred.

+ SAS, Excel, and Access are preferred
